ABOUT JILLIAN
What neighborhood do you live in?
Old Snoqualmie
How long have you lived in that neighborhood?
6+ years

What is something most people don't know about you?
Before becoming a beekeeper, I was a certified birth and postpartum doula, & also have an Interior design degree from the Art Institute of Seattle!
Why do you think it's important for people to shop local?
I'm passionate about leaving a world for future generations that's worth inheriting. To me, one of the most significant benefits of shopping locally is supporting environmental sustainability.
Where are your favorite places to go in the neighborhood/Valley?
I love downtown Snoqualmie; it's quaint and inviting, offers excellent food, entertainment, and fun options for shopping when you need a gift or want to splurge on something for yourself.
What are your favorite things to do in the neighborhood/Valley?
Three things come straight to mind, I'm an avid hiker and snowboarder, one of my favorite things about living in the Valley is the plethora of hiking trails, and having the pass is so close! My children are all a part of local theater & musical groups. I love how much the arts are celebrated in the Valley and love the year-round entertainment you can always find around town. I also love being a member of the Snoqualmie Valley Beekeepers Association, a great group of people! For anyone interested in keeping bees, I would highly recommend attending a meeting!
What are your favorite restaurants in the Valley?
Woodman, Rio Bravo, and II Paesano
What is something most people don't know about the business?
One thing most people don't know about Keepers Collective is that along with our traditional Langstroth hives; we also keep a unique style of hive system called "AZ-Slovenian Style" hives. Our AZ hives are kept in a building known as a "beehouse," where the bees are better protected from the elements and natural predators.
