What neighborhood do you live in?

Downtown Snoqualmie

How long have you lived in that neighborhood?

Since March 2018

What is something most people don't know about you?

My life revolves around my dogs, Hank, Stella, and Greta. I show Stella on weekends across the state. We have a doggie gym in my garage where all three pups work on training and get their exercise even when it’s raining. We are currently working on learning to use the treadmill.

Why do you think it's important for people to shop local?

As a small business owner, I realize how important it is for local employment. Small businesses often have the most supportive working environments. I’ve worked for a lot of large companies who cared more about the bottom line than employees or their products and services. One of the reasons I started my own company is because I vowed that no one would make me reduce the quality of services in order to make more money and bill more hours. At my Orchid Behavioral Care, the clients and employees come first. I’ve come to meet many small business owners in the Valley who share this philosophy.

Where are your favorite places to go in the neighborhood/Valley?

The Three Forks Dog park and Rattlesnake with the dogs.

What are your favorite things to do in the neighborhood/Valley? I love to go hiking and running with my three dogs.

What are your favorite restaurants in the Valley?

I don’t often eat out, but when I do, I’m a fan of the Snoqualmie Brewery or Sigillo’s Cellars because both have outdoor areas for dogs (yes, I am a crazy dog lady)

What is something most people don't know about the business?

We serve children where parents need help, including homes, daycares, private schools, grocery stores, restaurants, camps, or anywhere parents need.

We are also an incredible place to work where everyone is treated like a family member. We have company dinners and I mentor employees in their career – even if this isn’t their forever job. As a fourth-year doctoral candidate, my research (and life) revolves around mentorship for young professionals.

Anything exciting going on that customers should know about?

We are hoping to start serving families with children who have autism in the Valley within a few months. We need enough interest from families to hire staff in this area. We currently serve Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, and Redmond. However, I would love to help families in my own community.

Executive Director & BCBA

At Orchid Behavioral Care we utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help children with autism and other developmental disabilities learn to communicate, develop leisure skills, perform academic tasks, and so much more. We blend naturalistic teaching strategies and our rich backgrounds (paraprofessionals, teachers, etc.) in order to create a program for each client that best meets the child and their family's needs.
